Chapter Spotlight
Chapter Name: Omicron Omicron University: California University of Pennsylvania Name of person submitting information: Joy M. Helsel, Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life/Special Publications The Omicron Omicron Chapter was very busy this semester. The chapter developed and presented an anti-hazing workshop for all Greeks (photo attached). The workshop was presented initially on Thursday, March 27; the group is committed to presenting the program to all new members each semester. The chapter also sold refreshments at Greek Week events. They are raising money to help to support programs in the upcoming semesters. Tentative plans for Fall 2008 include co-sponsoring a motivational speaker, and sponsoring a philanthropic effort such as Scouting for Food. Members of the Omicron Omicron Chapter spearheaded the addition of a chapter of Gamma Sigma Alpha on our campus. The Beta Theta Chapter of Gamma Sigma Alpha was chartered on April 23. The chapter wanted to add Gamma Sigma Alpha as a way to further recognize fraternity and sorority members who excel academically. The chapter sponsored a stress-relieving activity for the campus during Finals Week. Students had the opportunity to don Sumo suits and “wrestle” away their stress in between finals (photo attached).
