All new members must be registered within 30 days of initiation.  This can be done before the ceremony so the membership certificates and pins can be given to the new members during initiation, or immediately following.

MyHonorSociety (MHS): New Members Registration Process

NEW: MyHonorSociety (MHS) platform:
 
Order of Omega has partnered with MyHonorSociety (MHS) as the platform that Order of Omega chapters will use to register new members with us. A reminder that at this time only chapter advisors (known as “sponsors” on the MHS platform) can upload new members. We will have access for chapter officers at a later time.
 
In the past, chapter advisors had to track down membership dues from each new member and send in, to headquarters, a lump sum payment for all the dues. With MHS, after the chapter has recruited new members, the advisor/sponsor will upload the new members’ emails to MHS and use their email to send them an invite to create a profile. After the new members create their own profile (they will have a specified amount of time before their invite expires), they can pay the $50.00 national dues (including a $3 processing/technology fee) directly to headquarters on the MHS platform. Once all the new members have paid, we will download the list of those new members and create their new member certificates and membership pins. HQ will then ship the new members’ certificates and pins to the campus FSL address.  Note: MHS is not able to accept local dues payments — if your chapter does have local dues, you will need to collect that separately.  
 
There will be an option where the new members don’t have to pay their national dues online. They can use a “waive” option and, like in the past, we can then email the chapter an invoice for the total number of new members captured on MHS.  Your chapter can collect their dues and either mail in one check or use one credit card via MHS to make the chapter invoice payment. 
 
MHS can also function as a platform for the chapter to communicate with its members, and manage rosters in one place so that as new officers or advisors come in to the chapter, all that is housed in one place. A roster of all your chapter’s past members dating back to when your chapter was chartered will soon be available on your MHS chapter profile (we hope by mid-Fall 2022).
 
All advisors should try to log in to Order of Omega’s MHS portal. If not able to log in using your university email address, email Mike Taddesse at HQ for a new temporary password (which will need to be changed once logged in).

HOW TO CREATE A NEW INVITATION GROUP ON MHS:
 
After your chapter has selected new members for the semester, your next move is to upload the selected new members’ names & email addresses into MHS by creating a new Invitation Group.  This is when the new members will be emailed by the MHS system to register themselves with headquarters, as well as to pay their national initiation dues.

Late Fee Structure

  • 30 days past due – 5% of dues
  • 60 days past due – 10% of dues
  • 90+ days past due – 15% of dues

The late fees are assessed to encourage chapters to plan ahead and not wait till the end of the semester to initiate new members or collect dues.  We have seen an increase in chapters waiting till the end of the spring semester to hold initiation and then not registering the new members until the following fall.  This causes many issues for the officers and advisors, and can cause quite a setback when chapter operations resume in the fall!
